This Slim Minimalist Wallet Gave Me Chills
I pulled the PROOF Wallet Slim Minimalist Wallets out of the box and immediately started turning it over in my hands, top grain leather, an aerospace aluminum spine, and a card-pull mechanism I’d never seen before. It’s also from a veteran-owned company, which matters to some buyers. If you want a front-pocket wallet that holds 15 cards, blocks RFID, and ships with a multi-tool you’ll actually use, keep reading.
Leather, Metal, and a Bonus Tool in the Box
The build is top grain leather over aerospace-grade aluminum, and the whole wallet measures just 0.32 x 2.2 x 3.6 inches. Two things surprised me on the unboxing. They pack fake cards and money in there so you can play around and see how it works, and they drop a little key at the bottom of the box that’s actually a multi-tool.
I thought it was just a spare key at first. Nope. It’s got a Phillips head, a flathead, a bottle opener, a small file, and a little measure. Then I looked closer and saw way more than I thought it did, a serrated blade, a pry bar, what looks like a window breaker. That’s going straight on my keychain. Total bonus, and not something you expect a wallet to ship with.
The Card-Pull Strap Is Super Unique
Pull the leather tab and every card rises out of the slot at once, no digging, no fanning. Push it back down and they lock flat. On paper that sounds like one extra step; in practice it took me about ten seconds to prefer it over every clamshell and side-slide wallet I’ve used. The action is firm enough that nothing pops loose in a pocket.
I started small with two cards, because that might be all you carry. Drop them in the slot, push down, done. Then I kept going. One, two, three, all the way to 10, and it fit perfectly. The wallet moved a little, expanded, and boom, 10 cards. I don’t know many guys carrying 10 credit cards, but there you go. Then I pushed it to 15 and it was still expanding, and it barely got bigger, just the size of the card itself. If you compare it to your phone, it’s very very little.
Card Count Depends On What You Carry
Flat cards carry 15; embossed cards carry 8, 10 before the wallet visibly thickens. That number changes fast if your cards are embossed. Older cards with raised numbers stack thicker, so you’ll fit fewer before it gets chunky. The listing claims up to 25, and I believe the slot expands that far, but a wallet full of embossed cards is going to feel a lot fatter than my flat-card test did. Know what’s in your pocket before you count on the top-end number.

Cash Folds Under the Strap
Cash folds in half, then slides under an expandable strap, a habit change from a flat billfold. They even printed a little how-to on the wallet. I had six bills, and the move is to fold them in half, half and half sort of deal, then slide them under the strap. One thing to know, it warns you not to pull that strap out, but it does move and there’s a lot of flexibility to it. So you’re folding cash rather than laying it flat like a traditional billfold. Not a dealbreaker, just a habit change.
The RFID Blocking Actually Blocked My Reader
RFID blocking stops NFC readers cold: bare card read my data in 1 second; inside the PROOF wallet, nothing. I took an NFC reader tool and held it against a bare credit card. Boom, it grabbed all the information. That’s exactly how someone brushes against your back pocket on the street and lifts your card details. Then I dropped that same card into the PROOF wallet and ran the reader again. Nothing. I even took the cash out to prove the money wasn’t doing the blocking. Still nothing. The metal plate plus the embedded blocking material stops it cold, and that’s what matters so you don’t lose your card info to some thief.
Who This Slim Minimalist Wallet Is For
This is built for the guy hauling a fat billfold in his back pocket who wants to move to front-pocket carry without ditching his cards, and I’m stress-testing that exact case next week in New York City. Crowded subway, tourist crowds: a slim RFID-blocked wallet in your front pocket is a different security posture than a thick bifold advertising itself from your back pocket. If you carry two cards and nothing else, the pull-strap mechanism is overkill and you’re overpaying for it, grab something simpler.
What I’d Tell A Buyer
Keep the multi-tool key, it’s a real bonus, not a gimmick. Get in the habit of folding your cash in half before it goes under the strap, and don’t yank that cash strap out. Count your actual cards before you buy on the big numbers, since embossed cards eat the capacity fast. And that lifetime guarantee plus the 12-month return window means there’s very little risk in trying it. If you break it, they replace it.
