Quick Verdict
The debris basket went from white to brown in a few minutes, and I never had to touch a cord, hose, or the pool water once. The Aiper Scuba V3 pool cleaner runs four separate modes and does the boring part of pool ownership for you. The only real hitch was my bumpy pool floor tricking it into thinking it hit a wall.
Buy if you:
- Hate wrestling cords and hoses every time you clean the pool

- Own a pool with a lot of fine debris and algae buildup

Aiper Scuba V3 Pool Cleaner Takes Off Fast
I gave it a quick dunk to get it down to the floor faster 2:10, and within seconds it was already snaking across the bottom in an S-pattern. No fidgeting with a remote, no waiting for it to orient itself. The thing that actually sold me wasn’t any spec, it was watching it climb the wall and scrub the waterline before I’d even set down my coffee.
The Bulldozer Tires And The Contactless Charging
It weighs 8.2 kg, lighter than last year’s X1, which makes lifting it out of the pool a lot less of a chore. It still runs the bulldozer style tires that grip up and down inclines and get it climbing walls to clean the waterline. There’s no cord spot anywhere on it. Nowhere to plug in. It charges on a wireless cradle, so you rest it on the dock and it beeps and lights up. So simple there.
The filtration is a two-layer setup: a 180 micron debris filter for the big stuff and a 3 micron fine layer that grabs sand and the invisible junk. You can run just the debris basket, or drop the algae filter in with it to catch smaller particles. Aiper vision AI is the other headline. When it spots debris it drives straight to it instead of guessing, and you can toggle the path in the app.
All 4 Modes, One At A Time
Auto mode splits the battery in half, walls and waterline first, then floors. It does the walls and waterline first. When it first drops in, it has to figure out its bearings, then it starts the S pattern, a snake path across the floor that overlaps just a bit so it covers about 99% of the pool.
Floor only mode finds a wall, turns around, crosses the whole pool, lines itself up, and comes back. Wall only mode climbs the wall, cleans the waterline, and repeats it 100% of the run. In auto it comes up the wall, pops out about 2 to 3 inches for maybe 5 seconds, works whatever buildup is on there, then drops back down. I counted it out loud 4:05, one, two, three, four, five, right back under.
Waterline only is the one people forget exists. It comes up a couple inches out of the water and circles in a clockwise motion, cleaning that scum line for you. It doesn’t drop back under until around 60 seconds. You may not need the full 3-hour run for that, but you can let it do its thing. The brush is really soft, so it works muck and scum off without scratching.
The Humps In My Floor Confused It
My pool floor has some dips, and that tripped it up. When it hit a hump in floor mode, it sometimes thought it found a wall and turned around early when it was just a dip 6:10. It’s not a dealbreaker and it still covered the floor, but on an uneven pool you’ll notice it changing direction when there’s nothing actually there. If your pool floor is dead flat, you won’t see this at all. Worth knowing before you expect flawless straight-line coverage.

Cleaning It Out Is Almost Too Easy
The part I liked most had nothing to do with cleaning the pool. Once I pulled it out, I didn’t have to haul the whole unit to my hose spot. I just pushed the basket lever up and carried the basket over on its own. Popped the little lever on the back, and look at that, brown already. That basket was white a few minutes earlier. I rinse it from the outside first to push the gunk out, then pull the filter, lay it flat, spray it hard, and turn it inside out. Snap it back on the two little alignment holes, drop it in the vacuum, and set the whole thing on the charging cradle. It beeps, the light comes on, done.
Who This Is For
This is for the pool owner who’s tired of dragging a corded vacuum and untangling hoses every weekend. If you want to run just the waterline before a party, or just the floor after a windy day, the separate modes make that easy, you’re not forced into a full 3-hour auto cycle every time. The V3 handles the part of pool ownership that eats a Saturday morning and hands you back the afternoon.
V3 vs The Older X1
The V3 sheds weight compared to the X1, down to 8.2 kg, and adds Aiper vision AI, which actively hunts debris instead of just running a fixed grid. Those are real upgrades, not spec-sheet padding. That said, if your X1 still runs a clean cycle without issue, neither improvement changes your pool result enough to justify swapping. First-time buyer with no robot in the garage yet? Skip the X1 entirely and start here.
Advice Before You Run It
Give it a little dunk when you first drop it in. It gets to the floor quicker and starts working faster instead of bobbing while it finds its bearings. Decide up front whether you want just the debris basket or the algae filter dropped in too, since the algae filter grabs the fine particles. And don’t panic if it changes direction over a floor dip, that’s the wall sensor reading a hump. Let auto mode use about half the battery on walls and half on floors, and only run the full 3 hours if your pool actually needs it.

How do you clean the Aiper Scuba V3 filter?

Will it work if my pool floor is uneven?
It works, but humps and dips can make the wall sensor think it hit a wall and turn around early. It still covers the floor overall, you’ll just see it change direction over the bumps. A flat floor gives the cleanest path.
How long does one cleaning cycle run?
A full run can go up to 3 hours, but you don’t always need that. For something like waterline-only cleaning, a shorter run is usually plenty. Auto mode splits the battery roughly half on walls and half on floors.
Is it heavy to lift out of the water?
It weighs 8.2 kg, about the size of a large housecat, and it’s lighter than the older X1. That makes pulling it out of the pool noticeably easier on your back. The lighter body was one of the upgrades over the previous model.
Do I have to use the app?
You can run the basic modes with the button on the unit, but the AI path options live in the app you connect to. If you want the Aiper vision debris-detection routing, you’ll want it connected. For plain auto cleaning, the on-unit button gets you going.
