A Rainy Pool Day and Murky Scuba Vision
My 24-foot above-ground pool had gone green, algae coating the floor, leaves stacked in the corners, rain still coming down, and I dropped the AIPER Scuba V3 AI Vision Cordless Robotic Pool Cleaner in without adjusting a single setting. That’s the real test. It’s got bulldozer style tires on it and front and back roller brushes, so it’s cleaning forward, back, up, and down all at once. The whole point of the scuba vision on this thing is that it doesn’t just guess where the dirt is. It goes and finds it.
What the Scuba Vision Camera Actually Does
The scuba vision is a single front-facing AI camera that detects over 20 debris types and drives right to them. That’s the difference between this and most pool vacuums. Most bull vacuums just roam and hope. The V3 sees a leaf and goes get it. The camera and sensors also dodge obstacles, so it’s not slamming into ladders and drains like the cheaper units do. You turn the AI mode on inside the app, and from there it hunts.
It Found a Leaf and Went Boom, Gone
The first leaf disappeared the second the V3 got going. Boom, gone. Then it found another leaf, turned itself a little bit, and went right to it. That’s the AI vision doing its job instead of ignoring debris. My pool is a 24 foot round above ground, and it doesn’t matter whether you’ve got inground or above ground, or what material the liner is. It works on all of them. In the app you pick a floor path too, a crisscross, an S pattern, or a B-shape pattern, and when it first drops in it figures out the shape of your pool before it settles into back and forth around the whole thing.
I let it run and told it I’d come back in a couple hours. When I checked, all those leaves were gone and a lot of the algae was gone too. It parks up against the sidewall when it’s done, and there’s a 10-minute retrieval window where it comes up to the waterline so you can grab it if you got the app notification. It clears leaves and algae in a couple hours on a single charge.
That Algae Filter Comes Out Nasty
The cleanup is where the real work is. You pull a little handle and the debris basket slides out, so you don’t have to lug the whole unit to your cleaning station. Pop it open and, look at that, all those very green leaves. Then there’s the algae filter, and I mean it’s nasty. Look how brown that thing gets. That’s the part worth knowing about. You’ve got two things to rinse every run, and the algae layer does not come clean with a quick spray.
You’ll want your sprayer on a good spray to blast it out. It comes off pretty easy once you get after it, and you can see how white it’s supposed to be underneath. I usually clean it first while it’s on the skeleton, then take it off. And when it’s really bad, I’ve thrown this filter in the washing machine before to get it really, really clean. That’s a step the box doesn’t mention, but on a green algae pool you’ll be doing it.

Who This Is For
The V3 is built for above-ground pool owners who run it weekly without a dedicated cleaning day. At 8.2 kg it lifts out one-handed, and a single charge covers my entire 24-foot round with time to spare. If you’ve got an above-ground pool like mine, you’ll mostly run it in floor mode. It does clean walls if you want, but I typically don’t run mine on the walls very often because above ground you can knock stuff off. Inground owners would use the wall and waterline modes a lot more. The waterline mode goes clockwise all the way around and cleans that scum line.
Scuba Vision vs a Basic Cordless Vac
The scuba vision is the whole reason to pay up over a basic cordless robot. A random-pattern vac might cross a leaf by accident; the V3 locks onto it and drives straight there, which is why a genuinely green pool clears in a couple of hours instead of two passes. The real trade-off is money versus cord: a corded unit is cheaper, never needs charging, and you drag a hose every single time while it ignores your ladder. If you clean on a schedule and want to walk away, the AI wins. If you clean once a month and don’t mind the tether, save the cash.
Advice Before You Drop It In
Turn the AI vision on in the app before you toss it, otherwise you’re leaving the best feature off. Pick your floor path in the app too so it isn’t wandering. Hold the power button, choose your mode, and drop it. Leave the algae filter attached when your pool is bad, and plan to rinse both the basket and that filter after each run. Keep the washing machine trick in your back pocket for the really green days. When it’s done, set it back on the wireless dock and it charges itself, no plugging in, no drying connectors, no fuss.

Is the AIPER Scuba V3 filter dishwasher or washing machine safe?
The filter can go in a washing machine to deep clean it, which I’ve done before to get it really clean. For normal runs a sprayer on a good spray setting rinses out the debris and algae fine. Just pop the algae filter off the skeleton first.
Does it work in both above-ground and inground pools?
Yes, it works in inground and above ground pools and doesn’t care about the liner material. Mine is a 24 foot round above ground and it handled it fine. The wall and waterline modes get more use in inground setups.
How do you get it out of the pool when it’s done?
It parks against the sidewall and comes up to the waterline for a 10-minute retrieval window. You get a notification in the app, then you grab it. I use a hook to pull it out if I’m not standing right there.
Do you have to plug it in to charge?
No, it charges wirelessly on its dock. You just set it on the cradle and it charges itself with no plugging in, no exposed connectors, and no drying step. The dock also stores it neatly when it’s not running.
What debris can the scuba vision camera detect?

How fine is the filtration?
